The best way to share a PowerPoint presentation is to start the Slide Show from within PowerPoint first, and then tab to Infinity Connect , share your screen, and select the Slide Show window.

From the toolbar at the bottom of the screen, select Present files. By default, every slide is selected for presenting, but you can click on individual slides to select and deselect them:. To stop sharing the slides, from the toolbar select Stop presenting.

When a participant starts a presentation, you automatically see the content they are sharing as your main image, and the image of the participants reduces to a small thumbnail at the top left corner.

You can toggle between viewing the presentation and viewing the participants by clicking on the thumbnail. Whether you are the presenter or a participant, you can view the current presentation in a separate pop-out window.

To do this, from the bottom right of the screen select View presentation in separate window. To close the window, you can select Close separate presentation window. When receiving presentation content in an Adaptive Composition layout, the presentation stream is shown as part of the layout mix replacing some of the other video participants , providing the client is receiving video at a medium or higher bandwidth setting otherwise it is displayed as one large separate stream.

You can toggle the presentation content between the “in mix” and “separate” streams via the maximize and reset buttons in the bottom-right corner of the presentation. When a participant is showing a presentation, by default you receive it as a series of still images. This is suitable for documents and screens being shared, but if the presentation contains a lot of movement it may appear jerky. If this is the case, you can elect to receive the presentation in full motion as HD video.

To do this, from the bottom right of the screen select View full motion presentation. To return to the default view, select View normal presentation. When a participant is sharing a presentation, other participants receive both the presentation and the main video. However, you may want to receive just the main video on a particular endpoint for example, if you are using a meeting room system for audio and video, but you are already viewing the presentation on your Infinity Connect client, you could stop sending presentation to the meeting room system.

To do this, from the Participant list , select the participant and then select Hide presentation here. From the toolbar at the bottom of the window, select Start Video. From the toolbar at the bottom of the window, select Start audio. From the toolbar at the bottom of the window, select Turn my camera off or Turn my camera on. From the toolbar at the bottom of the window, select Turn my microphone off or Turn my microphone on.

These are at the middle left or bottom of the screen, depending on your device and screen width. When using Infinity Connect , a list of all other conference participants is shown in the Participant list tab of the control panel which is to the left of or at the bottom of the screen, depending on the screen width. You can scroll through this list to view the names of other participants. You can also search for a particular participant using the Filter by name box at the bottom of the list.

Each person in the Participant list has an icon next to their name, representing their role:. Hosts, who can control the meeting and other participants. External Guests, who connected directly to an externally-hosted conference, such as a Microsoft Teams or Skype for Business meeting , or Google Meet.

From the toolbar at the bottom of the screen, select Add participant. At the prompt, enter the address of the person you want to dial. The call is placed from the conference to the participant and they appear in the participant list with a green line under their name while their endpoint is ringing. If and when the participant answers the call they will join the conference; if they do not answer, or do not accept the call, they will disappear from the participant list.

Outbound calls are placed from a Virtual Meeting Room to a participant when a Host uses the Add participant option, or if the Virtual Meeting Room has an automatically dialed participant configured.

To cancel an outbound call, from the Participant list , select the participant and then select Cancel Dialout. If you want to send a link to the meeting to someone so that they can join you, select the Share icon at the top left of the screen and then select Copy meeting link.

You can then send this link to other participants who can paste it into their browser to join the meeting. From the Participant list , select the participant and then select Mute or Unmute. When muted, a icon is shown next to the participant’s name. From the top of the side panel, select Control and then select Mute all Guests. From the Participant list , select the participant and then select Spotlight.

The host controls will appear at the bottom of your screen if you are not currently screen sharing.

Note: You can also select to share “computer audio” when sharing a video clip such as YouTube or a locally stored video clip. The plugin allows you to schedule and start instant Zoom meetings, as well as make existing meeting events Zoom meetings.

You can record your Zoom meeting or webinar locally to your computer or to the cloud. Locally recorded meetings and webinars can only be accessed on the computer that recorded the meeting. The host must record the meeting or grant a participant the ability to record. To start recording a meeting, click the Record icon on the Zoom toolbar. The video will record to the cloud and automatically be uploaded to MyMedia.

Zoom is one of the popular video conferencing solutions out there. It’s essentially a cloud-based app that lets you organize meetings and team up in real-time to conduct webinars and group calls. Although you can access Zoom on the web via its web client or progressive web app PWA , it is advisable you download its desktop client for quick and easy access. Follow along as we discuss the benefits of using the Zoom desktop client over its web counterparts and walk you through the steps to install it on your Linux computer.

As mentioned before, the ease of use offered by the Zoom client is one of its major advantages. But besides that, there are several other benefits because of which you might opt for the desktop client over the web client or the progressive web app. Of course, these are just some of the advantages of using the Zoom client, and there are numerous other upsides to using it that you can benefit from in your everyday use.

Just like any other program, you have more than one way to install Zoom on Linux. So depending on what distro you’re using, follow the steps below to start the installation process.

On most distros, you can install the application using both graphical and command-line methods. In case you’re on Ubuntu, you can skip this step as GDebi is likely to be pre-installed on your system. To do this, tap the dropdown button beside Linux Type, choose your distro from the list, and hit Download. Download: Zoom. Once downloaded, double-click the installer file to open it in GDebi. Click on the Install button and enter your admin password, when prompted, to continue the installation.

If you don’t want to download an additional utility on your system, you can install the Zoom DEB file using the terminal. To do this, open the terminal and navigate to the directory where you saved the downloaded file using the ls and cd commands. The name of the DEB file might be different in your case.

So make sure to specify the correct filename in the command. So, based on your preference, choose a method that you see fit. Most Arch-based Linux distros come with the Pamac package manager preinstalled, and that’s what you’ll be using to install Zoom on our system.

The browser will start downloading the TAR file on your computer. Download : Zoom. Open the file manager and go to the folder where you downloaded the file. Now, double-click on the file to open it in Pamac. Here, you’ll now see a list of dependencies that will be installed on your computer along with Zoom. Click Apply to proceed. In case you want a straightforward installation process, you can download the TAR archive and install it via Pacman. To do this, open the terminal and navigate to the directory holding the TAR file.

If you no longer want the Zoom client, you can remove it along with all its dependencies by running:. On the other hand, if you’re on CentOS or Red Hat, you have to resort to using the terminal for this task.

Here, click Install and enter your admin password, if prompted, to continue. Just like other Linux distros, installing Zoom on openSUSE is also pretty easy, and you can either use the graphical package manager or the terminal approach for this. Then, open your system’s file manager and head to the directory where you saved the RPM file. When prompted, hit Accept to install Zoom along with all its dependencies.

If you find the CLI approach better, open the terminal and navigate to the directory where you downloaded the Zoom client file. Run the following command and enter your admin password when prompted to continue installation:. Using this guide, you should be able to install Zoom on your Linux computer successfully. In most cases, you wouldn’t encounter any dependency issues during the installation. However, in case such issues crop up, you can install the missing dependencies and try installing the client again.
